Mr-TM You're probably right, but if you can't do it well, it's better not to try. The best example here is probably my situation, when I jam a padlock with a paper clip, because I thought it would be very easy. 😅

Well, a paper clip is not a suitable tool either.

Mr-TM Now I know that, but once I managed to open up like that, I thought I would repeat my feat 😆

Mr-TM n my opinion, the safest way to open a cb without a suitable key is to pick the lock.

Good luck with picking Abus EC75(with dimple key). Unlike many others here, I tried.

Joh And how can it help me or another girl with such lock?

      • Joh replied to this.

Renita You need to get the Feeling to Pick a usual Lock First. If you master it you have to Go on whith better locks and more Challenging locks. It needs a Lot of Praxis and Not everyone can Do it.

Joh and Not everyone can Do it

          Seems it's my case.

Renita Good luck with picking Abus EC75

Seeing this lock in person, I wouldn't even know where to start picking lol.

Sasha Seeing this lock in person, I wouldn't even know where to start picking lol

You should consider one for yourself.

Renita We bought some already, seeing those keys makes picking seem impossible

I think we should get back to the topic of emergancy key. For lock picking there is another thread.

Mr-TM Do you recall you statement that lockpicking is the best emergency key?

Mr-TM In my opinion, the safest way to open a cb without a suitable key is to pick the lock.

That was probably a bit misleading on my part. Lock picking is not an emergency key for me. Only of the methods that have been discussed, it is the one that is the least dangerous for the wearer.

                Mr-TM

i think so too, i think it is possible to break the belt as well, but the easiest way is certainly to destroy the lock. besides, a padlock is not as valuable (financially speaking) as the entire belt 🙂

                a month later

I agree with you as far as that goes, but Neosteel and Mysteel have an ironing protection, or am I mistaken? How will you then destroy the lock?

Mr-TM i think you mean shackle guard. Looks like a machine translation artifact.

Anyway, a shackle guard makes it harder to insert shims, bolt cutters or wrenches to bust the lock, but that just means it takes more time to remove it because you need to gradually cut it off with a grinding disc or a drill bit or something along those lines, instead of just ripping it off the belt in a single motion that takes half a minute once you have the tools.

Tabletop We use a similar single use wire seal. There is not lock as such, just a pair of bolts with an uncommon head that have the seal wire threaded through them to prevent removal with out breaking the wire.

                    Tabletop

the question is whether you could remove the locks without your parents noticing if you did not have the seal?
