Now if you want to ride with your thigh bands on it is possible under the following conditions:
- You have to ride in a side saddle
- The thigh bands are as high up on your thighs as possible
- You need a longer chain between your thigh bands (see picture)
- You must wear a long skirt
The thing I do not know though is how (un-) comfortable your bands are to wear, as they are squeezed between the saddle and your legs.
And then of course there is the chain from the belt to the right thigh band as well.
I certainly would pad it extremely well, as otherwise you are going to damage your skirt and the saddle.
The following points are potential problems:
- Finding a place where they actually teach how to ride in a side saddle
- If you get your own horse, where do you source such a saddle from
- Also the riders sits all the time on the saddle, unlike the English way where one does rising trot. So this might a problem for women with delicate bottoms (like @Ines's
).
