Milord Susan Teachers have sex with students it seems like all the time here in the US. Some are prosecuted especially if the student was a minor, but that is not the case here. You can look them all up on Google if you want Minors mostly, with consequences for teachers, not students. Mostly due to parents discovering this. Anyway Susan, I don't believe this story, and pretty sure I'm in good company here.

pestulens Milord I have never heard of anything like that either, though I don't have any trouble believing some school admin tried to do it. A supportive parent's job in such a case would be to advocate for their child and hold the school accountable but such is life.
Jenna pestulens The school suspended her, maybe because her being at the graduation would be a distraction if others knew about it. She was not expelled but will graduate at the end of the summer. As for holding the school accountable, the man was fired. Not sure what more they can do.

Kaja Susan But why? What did they do wrong? I know it will be better to have sex in her/his house. But sometimes you can not. If her mother will not be mad they can have sex in her house - and nothing bad will happen. So it is the mothers mistake. My opinion will be different if she will be 16 yo teen. But this is not this case.

She apparently was naked in a car on school property. Jane was not expelled, just suspended. Neither she nor the teacher were arrested. But he was fired. I am assuming Monica did defend her, not sure what more she could do. I think she just wants to problem to go away and not draw attention to it. I would do the same.

Tjc Milord Most of the news stories do not mention what happened to the student in these cases due to student privacy rules. In the four cases that I know of in New Jersey this year, the student was suspend from the school and referred for counseling or sent to a "private school" for the remainder of the school year. Interestingly, in two of these cases, and it looks like a significant percentage nationally, the teacher was female.
Jenna Tjc thank you. No crime was committed as both were adults. Apart from the embarrassment, there would be no reason for such a thing to make any type of newspaper I too am surprised when I see these stories that many of the teachers are females.

Jenna Laura I believe it was a school security guard. Laura Why did they do it? Have Sex? For the same reason most people have sex, because it is enjoyable, but of course they did not anticipate the consequences.
Tjc Milord School rules do not make a distinction about whether or not the student is an adult. In the US, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is very clear about what can be revealed about a student and their conduct. Perhaps it is a difference in our locations, but when I Google "student suspended for sex with a teacher" I get at least three pages of results (I stopped scrolling at three). About 90% of those reference specific cases of teachers having sex with a student. They do not mention action taken to the student, presumably due the school not releasing information due to FERPA.
