In our family my father has the main key. Spare keys are in a save, my brother knows the combination for emergencys.

In my opinion it is wrong. Part of their responsibility is do not let us disobey. If we are able to disobey, they failed as keyholder.

Ines I think it us much safer keep some keys in a place where, in the worst of cases we could have it. Even if we do not have any access to it.
Of cause, that's how it is in our family. In a REAL emergency my father or brother can still tell us the code for the safe but in the last decades such a situation never happened for my mother or us.

Nothing of that kind really is. Except electronic locks that accept a string as password... they are pretty much unbeatable.
