Secondary shield prevent smashing, what is not a minor thing) but pinches between belt and shield are possible, even more if you seat as a goat (as my sister). I think the closer both plates, It would be more comon. There was a belt in which the secondary shield was separated of belt with small steel bars. I dont remember the maker.
But I think that it has to be unconfortable to sit, and awful under the clothes.
I prefeer some small ouchie pinch sometimes.
Prepare yourself for some ouchies! 
but I think is a nicer design and can Be more confortable beside some pinch.

Are you telling that a secondary shield with side pins between shields is more "bulge" outside, so there are problem to sit down on a chair? And that without pins is flatter but can pinch you (but you can si down easily)? so there isn't the perfect fitting.... mmmmm

No, it's only about crossing the legs. But you can't obtain it anyways.
The bigger issue, it's not detachable.

Well, with a quality belt, well meassured and sitting as is supossed we have to do, pinches are few, but at least in my family girls it can pass sometimes, even walking.
In an old forum, people told that in cheaper belts it is very very common, I gess it is due to a deficient adjustament.
With a "flat" model, if the girls does not wear bands we can even wear trousers and concealing it, not tight trousers, of course.

of course all my respect towards your thinking, but, do not you think that your aproach is pervert a little the essence of wear a chastity belt?
And please, I am not pretend any criticism about your thinking (even I can understand it) but it can be some disruptive towards traditional approach
