Asking for thighbands
If it is voluntary,I agree with you.If the one masturbating excessively admit it's a problem, and think an help to stop/reduce it would be useful,a chastity cage/belt can be a good idea.
Even if,at least at first, one of the main question would be "How can I manage to masturbate while wearing this?'!
I guess with not tight pants,it can stay discreet, yes.
I think it can be possible, yes, but with care to not resume doing it excessively.
I agree(except for smoking, alcohol and drugs). With enough care to not resume the addictions,it should be adapted after some time. For gambling, for example,if the addiction is solved,it could be possible to go to a casino with only 100€/$ in the pocket, with no other way to get more tokens(credit card,etc...).Even better if someone accompany the gambler and keep any money he can win over 100€/$.This way,the gambler would never be able to gamble for more 100€/$.When he/she has no money left,he/she should leave;even if he/she has gained 100€/$ before,he/she can't use these to continue gambling.
Anyway, you're the only one who know what work best for you!

Yes, absolutely. It really does put a stop to the problem.
Vanessa Even if,at least at first, one of the main question would be "How can I manage to masturbate while wearing this?'!
Lol. I've found that a belt has to have a certain level of security otherwise I just think "Why am I wearing this uncomfortable trash?!" When it reaches the point where removing it would be a lot of effort, I start to pay attention, stop masturbating and start recovering from my problem.
I'm hoping that security seals will take me to the next level, where I totally accept my belt and learn to deal with the feelings of lust that've always (previously) given in to.
Yes, cold turkey is how I beat smoking and cold turkey is how I'm beating masturbation.

yes, that's true, although I would also apply the whole thing at least to alcohol and cigarettes as well.

HHelen I'm afraid I think the availability of internet porn is changing people's behaviour and choices. By the time young people get together expectations can be high, effort can be low, and preferences, extreme. We can no longer count on masturbation being considered inferior to the real thing.
Jonas Thankfully people are starting to see the problem and deal with it before it gets to that stage.
i see it a little differently. most of the time these people don't see the problem, so the expectations during sex become higher and higher and the disappointments bigger and bigger. it could also lead to sexual crimes.
Max9 The problem is that people do know that this is not real, but still get ideas and aims that are inspired by porn
Inspiration is perfectly ok, but there should be no false expectations.
Jonas I've found that a belt has to have a certain level of security
Of course, but it does not avoid thinking on a way to cheat on it,I think.
But I can understand you feel and react differently.
Alcohol,at least,is a bit different.Even after years without drinking, even a sip of alcohol can make an ex-alcoholic addicted again(it is why even syrup against cough, which often contains very small quantities of alcohol, are often not recommended for people who were addicted to alcohol).I think cigarettes can work the same, but am not totally sure about it.
I don't think it is the majority of the cases.
Angelina Inspiration is perfectly ok, but there should be no false expectations.
I agree.

I think you're correct, we all consider the security of the belt on an ongoing basis (shaking the lock becomes a quick way of satisfying this desire). However, once the belt is considered secure it starts to do it's job which, for me at least, is to reframe the question from a more wilful "Why should I stop masturbating?!" to "Why should I start masturbating?".
Eg: Under the influence of nicotine it is harder to stop than to start smoking. When out from said influence, it's easier to stop than to start. The same, I think, goes for lust.
A chastity belt is just there for the times when lust is going to influence your decision making process too much.
I also fully understand that you feel differently!
Vanessa I don't think it is the majority of the cases.
Agree it's not yet a majority problem, however the NOFAP movement is a reaction to this phenomena and is, as far as I can tell, a growing movement.
I don't normally criticize what others do but as I almost slipped and fell on ice today I must say that anything that could cause someone to fall and break their teeth should not even be legal.

HHelen You mean a guy would prefer his left hand than his girlfriend?
I'm saying men are increasingly choosing the endless, excessive, infinite variety of porn in preference to real world relations.
You're right to suggest that this is a reductive process, but it's probably equally focused on the guy's right hand - if that's the one that operates the computer mouse!
