To sum things up, there is fantasy and reality.
Reality:
- Things happen - I have had my belt suffer metal fatigue (break) and must be removed to avoid cuts (twice). Screws come loose (many times before I found a solution).
- Someone, who has another thermostat key, might see the extra key and remove it
- Illness/injury
3a) Large dog jumps in your lap and lands on something sensitive... (yup been there while locked in my belt - only provided partial protection)
3b) While I was in the basement typing on my computer (sitting in a nice chair) my back went out. I was locked in my belt with the only key I could get in my bedroom on the 2nd floor. I was alone. This was not pretty. As my lower back was swelling, my belt was very much in the way. - Involving someone else in your fantasy - as stated by others above - consent is considered required. Although, there is no law requiring it.
Fantasy:
- You gave someone all your keys and you can't get them until ? Days. Might be ok, might see something listed (or unlisted) above...
- The person you have do this complies with out asking any questions. Life goes on...
@audioguy58 Sorry this is just a bad idea, but to each his own. I suggest you find someone you can talk to, open up about your desire for them to be a keyholder for you. Develop a plan (make sure you have an emergency plan) then live in reality.
