bdsamm I just saw from California they are trying to decriminalize sex work. It may take a few tries but like marijuana they will probably get there. Probably about time. Again we are one of the few western countries where sex work is illegal in every way.
Well again this subject came up in relation to raising one's children and attitudes toward nudity so I think some talk is appropriate in this thread. I was never taught that sex work was wrong, in fact when I worked at the homeless shelter in Haverhill, MA when I was in high school I got to know several prostitutes, and my parents did not object. Of course, none of these women bore any resemblance to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, they spent much of their earnings on booze and cigarettes and often slept under the bridges. Cops seemed to take a relaxed view, busting men who tried to set up as pimps but not these women who had nothing except their bodies.
So I would think it good if California could adopt a model such as the one they have in Nevada, which seems to work just fine. The workers make good money under safe conditions. It would be a while, I think, before many children were raised to think this was a legitimate way to make a living, but a lot of girls from poor backgrounds might benefit. I find it charming, by the way, that the political action group set up to promote the Nevada operation is known as the NBA - Nevada brothel association). Only we Americans probably would know that is the name of the professional basketball league.
Finally, Boston, a big college town, is awash with stories about girls who paid their way through Harvard stripping in Revere, MA.
