It is tradition. I got married early so I did not have to wear it for a very long time. TBH it was not necessary but I wanted to wear one like my older sister

Ines my mother does wear one. But my big sister who is married as well does not anymore. And is quite vocal about it.
In my case, I had scoliosis and had to wear a corset during puberty. So my parents did not have the heart to impose the belt to me in addition. Eventually I got an operation and got rid of the corset. I met my husband soon after that so in total, between my operation and my wedding, I wore the belt because I wanted to try it for a few months.
In the process I built a special relationship with corsets. And I wear one permanently. Soon I'll wear a belt permanently as well for other reasons.

In my family it is common for girls to get a chastity belt at 16. Its also no surprise that i would get such an belt. It's just a little earlier, because i have now an boyfriend.
