Right.I checked,and yes,it is in Maslow's pyramid,and at the bottom of it(the most important needs)!

I get that you can survive without it, but I think there would be a big part of my life missing. Like I would be missing a lot of mental / emotional development and body awareness that comes with self care and intimacy.

It is not especially related to economy.But yes,it seems many scientists don't agree with it anymore.

Funny enough,"sex" is rarely mentioned in english pictures of it,while it is almost always written in the french pictures!

Look at the bottom of the pyramid in the first picture of the french version( https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramide_des_besoins )and notice one the physiological need is "sexualité"(sexuality).
