I think giving control to the parents would be worse than the state forcing it. Like the girls that are forced into it but see their friends not having to - there would be so much anger within the families.
What happens to Lesbian marriage? Do they get to be each other's keyholders?
It might be used as a loophole by two friends. I guess if the law says chastity belts can be forced then gay marriage would be banned.
Just imagining if they could have forced me to wear it - I'd never be convinced - I'd just hate it and them forever
Jen I think you’d see a LOT of “marriages of convenience” between friends to escape the belt. But even then, women would be giving a lot of trust to their friend that he wouldn’t take advantage of the power it gives him.
American culture gives men way too much power over sexuality already. I’d dress what would happen if men and parents — the literal essence of the patriarchy — had such legal control over all women.
Jen the sad thing is, it would be worth it to some of them. My mom knew that her insistence on deeply traditional anti-masturbation Catholic beliefs drove a wedge between us until the day she died. She didn’t care. She considered it a price she was willing to pay if it made me less likely to masturbate. She would have closed a belt on me in an instant and never looked back if it was an option, and she would have been content with the consequences.
Jen this is why I still have such a conflicted relationship with the church to this day, though it’s getting better. In talking to others, I’m learning that my mom’s version of traditional Catholicism was considered rather extreme. (She all but rejected Vatican II, for instance.)

Surely most of your friends would end up locked up as @Ines and Saintprudence say and I think that the anger in the family if the girl is forced, would exist just the same.

Don't worry it isn't happening although there are some people who have used it as a therapy and it helped them avoid behaving badly with drug addicts and them maybe being in a terrible place!

I, in this, disagree a little with your position. I believe that the regimen in prison should be humane, but strict.
In that sense, I think it would not be a bad idea.
Megan as weird as the world can be, I feel quite confident in predicting that mass-population chastity belt laws are not likely to happen at any point in our lifetimes.

I've thought about it again and try to formulate something simple.
Husbands have the right to demand that the wife wears a chastity belt, the wife has to accept this if the husband has informed her before the marriage. he can sue later in court if the wife does not fulfill her marital obligations or is unfaithful.
Parents can apply to the court for the daughter to wear a chastity belt, but they have to justify it well and have it approved by a judge, and there is also supervision by an official authority that checks that the parents are not abusing the power
what do you think of it and do you have any ideas how to make it more concrete?
Angelina I wonder about a scenario where a woman can be legally spared the belt if a male such as her husband volunteers to be locked in her place. There are at least a few men who would seek such an arrangement, and it offers relief to a woman lucky enough to have such friends.

Angelina I phrased it badly because I was mixing up your voluntary or opt-in scenario with the “all women must be belted” scenario presented early in the thread. So my statement barely made sense in English and probably no sense at all in translation, since it was based on a faulty premise.
Thanks, I tried to write something that doesn't enforce belts from the state, but that a state can agree to the chastity of a wife or daughter at the request of parents or husbands
