Having a chastity cage/male chastity belt is painful when they get erect,and usually,they can't get totally erect with it on,and I guess it is why it can be damaging.

It’s not truth. Maybe in case of cages or wrong cheap belts. But in good chastity BELT is comfort even in case of erection. I like when my wife does get me excited when i’m belted. Or oral for her. It is without any pain.

If the cage fits correctly (like my everyday cage does) it should make a full erection impossible without hurting too much or damaging anything.

Angelina It depends on the material. The cage I wear all the time is made of "biosourced resin", or at least that's what the manufacturer claims. It's pretty stiff but the material itself is still "soft". In that cage I'm able to get an erection up to a certain point until my penis just goes flaccid again. It doesn't really hurt, and when it does, only for a short time. However, my "travel cage" is made of some kind of plastic and that's a completely different story. I'm able to get a little harder than in my usual cage, but it really hurts as soon as I start to get hard and doesn't stop until everything is flaccid again. I'm really glad that I almost never wear it.
As long as you don't clamp any blood vessels in the cage it's pretty safe. It only seems that the penis gets smaller after wearing for a long time (I can confirm that), but it seems like that is only temporary and is reversed after a few days of being unlocked.

I think the long time risks after 24/7 wearing for a long time are much bigger then for woman. I think a men body kind of needs an erection from time to time to stay intact. Otherwise you risk to loose the ability to get an erection afterwards.

At least we can get aroused. I think the system of a male chastity belt is completely different. I know from misterpoll that Americangraffiti was not able to get en erection once he got free from the belt after long time wearing. I don't know if he can have sex now, but it was definitely for a long time where he was unable.
I don't think something similar can happen to a woman.

Martin I think because nobody wears male chastity belts seriously. Well it can be worn for short term, at least not as long as female one. But @AmericanGraffiti 's mother thought differently
